The Patpong Night Market is 400 m away, a busy evening market with stalls selling clothes, bags and souvenirs, and the Patpong Museum is in the same area. Jim Thompson House, a museum set in traditional Thai teak houses and the former home of the American silk entrepreneur, is 2.7 km away and is well worth a visit.

A sightseeing day could start with the Grand Palace, 5.1 km from the hotel, with the Temple of the Emerald Buddha inside the same complex. In the afternoon, a river crossing takes you to Wat Arun, the temple on the west bank of the Chao Phraya, before returning to Silom for dinner. Chao Phraya boats are a practical way to cross the river, while the Skytrain covers the business district.
