Patong Beach is the main sandy beach on the bay. The Big Buddha, a large white seated statue on a hilltop, is 6.7 km away, and Chaithararam Temple (Wat Chalong) is one of Phuket's most important temples, farther off.

Patong is walkable for the beach and the main streets, while a taxi or a rented car is the easier choice for the Big Buddha and the temples. Phuket International Airport is 25 km away, and an airport transfer is available from the hotel. A day can start on Patong Beach and end on Bangla Road, with the temples planned for another day. Karon Beach, 3.4 km away, is another long sandy beach for a day by the sea. Patong's streets fill up in the evening, with night stalls and street food along the main roads.
