Big Buddha Phuket, a large white Buddha statue on a hilltop, is 14.2 km away, and Chaithararam Temple (Wat Chalong), one of the island's most revered temples, is also worth a visit. Phuket International Airport is the main airport for the island, and getting around usually means a taxi, a songthaew or a rented scooter or car.

A good day could begin with a swim at Kamala Beach, continue with a visit to Big Buddha or Wat Chalong, and end with an evening at the Kamala Night Market. Because the island is joined to the mainland by a bridge, a trip to the airport or to the rest of Phuket is a road journey.
