Cindy's Tower, a viewpoint 950 m from the house, is the place to go for the view over the island, and Ao Leuk, a bay 1.2 km away, is one of the nearby beaches to swim from. The Welcome to Koh Tao Turtle Monument is close by as well. Getting around the island is done by scooter or songthaew, and the ferries from Ko Samui and Chumphon arrive at the island's pier.

A day could start with a walk to Cindy's Tower for the view, then a swim at Ao Leuk. Nangyuan Island, 5.2 km away, is an islet reached by boat from the island and known for its snorkelling. Scuba diving centres are close by as well, so a diving session fits easily into a day on the island.
