The bay is quieter than Patong, the island's busiest resort town, and it suits those who want time by the sea rather than nightlife. Of the beaches in the area, Nai Harn is the closest to the home, and Kata Beach is the next one along the coast.

Big Buddha Phuket, a large white seated statue on a hilltop, is 3.8 km away, and Chaithararam Temple (Wat Chalong), one of the island's most revered Buddhist temples, is 6.1 km away. Kata Beach, another long sandy stretch, lies further along the coast, and Rawai Pier, with boats to nearby islands, is also close by. Phuket is linked to the mainland by a road bridge, and Phuket International Airport is 35.2 km away, so a car or taxi is a practical way to reach the beaches and temples.

A day could begin on Nai Harn Beach, continue to the temples at Wat Chalong and the Big Buddha, and end at the Rawai fish market and pier. For a livelier evening, Patong is the island's main resort area.
