The Skytrain is the simplest way around: Surasak BTS station is 550 m away, and Saint Louis BTS station is 700 m away, both on the Silom Line. The Sri Mahamariamman Temple is 200 m away, the Oriental Pier is 850 m away for Chao Phraya river boats, and Jim Thompson House, a museum of Thai silk in traditional teak houses, is 2.9 km away. Wat Arun is across the river. The old city, with the Grand Palace and Khaosan Road, is a longer trip from Silom, and the Chatuchak Weekend Market is further north still, so these are better planned as separate outings.

A day could begin at the temple nearby, continue on the Skytrain towards the Siam shopping district, and end with a boat ride along the Chao Phraya river from Oriental Pier. Siam Paragon, a large shopping centre, is on the same Skytrain line, so it can be part of the same route.
