Asok is one of the main interchanges of the city's rail network, where the skytrain and the metro meet, so the streets around the station are busy at most hours.

The Asok BTS and Sukhumvit MRT stations link the area with the rest of central Bangkok. Within a few hundred metres are the Kamthieng House Museum, The Siam Society and Soi Cowboy, the well-known nightlife street, and Benchasiri Park is 1.1 km away, a green space that offers a quieter break from the traffic on Sukhumvit Road.

A day in the city could take in the Grand Palace, 8 km away, with Wat Arun on the opposite bank of the Chao Phraya river, or the Chatuchak Weekend Market, a longer journey across town. Museum visitors can also reach the Jim Thompson House, the former home of the silk entrepreneur, which is now open to the public. Suvarnabhumi Airport is 20.8 km away for trips out of the city.
