Muang Thong Thani is a large mixed-use development on the outskirts of Bangkok, with residential towers, shopping and green space around a big lake. The apartment sits within this complex, a practical choice for travellers flying in or out of Don Mueang International Airport, the closer of Bangkok's two airports at 5.3 km. The IMPACT Exhibition Center, a large venue for trade fairs and concerts, is also nearby.

Muang Thong Thani MRT Station is 1.9 km away, giving a metro link towards central Bangkok, and the Ruamjai Fresh Market is 100 m away for everyday shopping. The Chatuchak Weekend Market, one of Bangkok's best-known markets, is 12.7 km away and is open at weekends, so it makes a good trip for a Saturday or Sunday.

For the historic sights, the Grand Palace is 19.4 km away in Bangkok's old city, so it is best kept for a separate day. Wat Arun, the Temple of Dawn, stands on the Chao Phraya riverbank close to that area, so one day can cover several temples. A good plan is to combine Chatuchak on a weekend morning with a metro ride back to the apartment in the afternoon, then rest in the air-conditioned apartment.
