The BTS Skytrain runs above Sukhumvit Road, so the stations on this line are the easiest way to reach the wider city.

Nana BTS Station is 200 m away and Phloen Chit BTS Station 550 m, so Bangkok's Skytrain gives quick access to much of the city. Siam Paragon is 2.1 km away, a large shopping centre with cinemas and an aquarium, and the Jim Thompson House museum, which shows Thai art and silk, is 2.9 km away. The house has gardens, a pleasant break between shopping trips in a busy part of the city.

For a full day out, the Chatuchak Weekend Market is 6.4 km away, a huge market of clothes, food and crafts. The Grand Palace and Wat Arun, on the Chao Phraya river, are the classic temple stops, and the Asiatique riverfront makes a good evening walk. Plan the temples as a half-day trip, and leave time for the river walk.
