Wat Arun, the Temple of Dawn, is 1.6 km away on the far bank of the Chao Phraya river. Sam Yot MRT station is 800 m away, on the metro line that runs across the city.

A day could begin at the Grand Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, continue across the river to Wat Arun, and end in the evening on Khaosan Road, where street food stalls and bars line the lanes. The old city is compact enough that most of these sights can be reached on foot from the apartment.
