Location & what to see
Mae Haad is the village around the ferry terminal on Ko Tao, the small island in the Gulf of Thailand that belongs to Surat Thani province. The beach is 250 m from the resort, and the streets nearby hold dive shops, massage places and small eateries.The village is small, and the resort is an easy base for trips out on the water, with dive schools close at hand.
Sairee Beach, 1.8 km away, is the island's best-known beach, and Nangyuan Island, 4.7 km away, is reached by boat and is known for its snorkelling. Closer to the resort, the Rama V Shrine and the Turtle Monument are small landmarks, and Cindy's Tower is a viewpoint on the island. Together they make a good set of short stops around the village, all within a few kilometres of the resort.
Ko Tao is reached by boat, so the last part of any journey is on the water. A good day can begin with a walk down to Haad Ao Mae, the beach nearest to the resort, and continue with a boat trip to Nangyuan Island for snorkelling. In the evening, the resort's garden hosts games and movie nights, so the day can end close to where you sleep.
