A good day could begin at the Jim Thompson House, 2.4 km away, a museum of traditional Thai houses set in a garden. The Grand Palace, 4.5 km away, contains Wat Phra Kaew, the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, so the two can be seen in one visit. Both sights can be reached by taxi, and the evening can be spent back in Silom.
