The Jim Thompson House Museum, a traditional Thai house once home to the American silk entrepreneur Jim Thompson, is 400 m away, and Ratchathewi BTS station, 550 m from the hotel, links you to the Skytrain network. Baan Krua, the riverside neighbourhood known for its silk weaving, is nearby, while Khaosan Road, a lively backpacker street with bars and street food stalls, is 3.2 km away. From the riverside piers, boats run along the Chao Phraya to the old city.

A good day begins at the Grand Palace, with the Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew) inside its walls and Wat Phra Chetuphon, known as Wat Pho and home to a giant reclining Buddha, close by. Then cross the river to Wat Arun, which is best seen from the water. In the afternoon, Chatuchak Weekend Market, 5.8 km away and open on weekends, is one of Bangkok's largest markets, with thousands of stalls.
