Chaweng Yai Beach is 550 m from the hotel, and the Night Market is 600 m away, while the Pagoda Khao Hua Jook is 950 m away. The Big Buddha, a large seated statue, is 4.3 km away, and the Na Muang Waterfall, reached inland, is 10.8 km away. The Samui Crocodile Farm is another attraction in the area.

A day could take in the Big Buddha and the Samui Elephant Sanctuary in Bophut, then return to Chaweng for dinner and an evening on the beach road. The Na Muang Waterfall makes a different kind of outing, and Chaweng Yai Beach is a good place to finish the afternoon. The island's interior is hilly and green, so a waterfall trip feels like a change of scene from the beach.
