Wat Arun, the riverside temple on the Thonburi bank with its tall central tower decorated in porcelain, is 4.8 km away. The Grand Palace, the royal complex in the old city on the opposite bank, is 4.1 km away and includes the Temple of the Emerald Buddha.

A full day can combine Wat Arun and the Grand Palace, which sit on opposite banks of the river. Khaosan Road, the busy street of guesthouses and night life in the old city, is on the same side of the river as the Grand Palace. The Chatuchak Weekend Market, which opens mainly at weekends, is a longer trip across the city, and Don Mueang International Airport, 18.2 km away, is the nearest airport.
