Chiva Bangkok Hotel

The rooms at Chiva Bangkok Hotel run from studios with a single, twin or queen bed to one-bedroom suites and a villa with three bedrooms. Most of them have a city view, and free Wi-Fi is available in all rooms. Depending on the room, you may find air conditioning, a kitchenette or a balcony/terrace, with blackout curtains and an in-room safe in some.

It is a residential and office area rather than a tourist centre, with apartment blocks and office buildings, and a train station is nearby. Soi Soonvijai 7 is a residential lane rather than a main road, so the hotel is quieter than the streets of central Bangkok. Royal City Avenue, the nightlife street, is 700 m away, with bars and clubs lining it.

The big shopping centres of the Pathum Wan area are further out: Siam Paragon is 5.3 km away, and the Chatuchak Weekend Market, one of Bangkok's largest markets, is 6.6 km away. The Grand Palace, at 9.9 km, is the place to start a day of temples, and Wat Arun, on the Chao Phraya river, is 10.2 km away. Bangkok Hospital is close by if you need it.

A full day could start at the Grand Palace and Wat Arun, continue to Jim Thompson House for its Thai silk and teak house, and finish on Khaosan Road in the evening. Chatuchak is best visited on a weekend, when the market is in full swing. Khaosan Road is a lively place for an evening meal, with street food stalls and bars along its lanes.
