Karon is a beach area on Phuket, Thailand's largest island, and Karon Beach is a long sandy stretch about 800 m from the apartment. The area is calmer than the busy strip at Patong, and the roads near the beach have small restaurants and street-food stalls.

Within a short walk are Wat Karon and Wat Suwankiriket, two pagodas, and the Karon Night Market. The Big Buddha Phuket, a hilltop statue above the island, is 2.6 km away, and Chaithararam Temple (Wat Chalong), the best-known temple on Phuket, is 4 km away. Kata Beach lies a few kilometres further along the coast, and Patong Beach, with the Bangla Road nightlife, is 4.4 km away.

A good day here could start with a swim at Karon Beach, then move on to Wat Chalong and the Big Buddha in the afternoon, and end at the Karon Night Market. Most of the sights are a short drive apart, so a car, a motorbike or a taxi makes the day easier, and the island's main roads run between the beaches and the temples. Phuket International Airport is 29.3 km away, and the journey from the airport is by road, across the bridge to the island.
