Location & what to see
Ton Sai Bay is the village side of Ko Phi Phi, the main island of the Phi Phi group in the Andaman Sea. Boats come and go from the bay, and the streets near the pier are lined with dive shops, tour offices and bars, so the area stays busy into the evening. Ton Sai Pier is the main arrival point for boats, so this part of the island is the easiest to reach by sea.
The beach at Ton Sai is 950 m from the inn, and the ferry pier is 700 m away. Phi Phi Market is 500 m away, and the Koh Phi Phi Viewpoint, a hill lookout over the bays, is 750 m. Long Beach lies on the other side of the island's isthmus, and Ao Maya, the famous bay on nearby Phi Phi Leh, is reached by boat.
One day can start at the hill lookout for a view over the bays, then continue at the pier with a boat trip to the nearby islands, including Bamboo Island and Phi Phi Leh. During the monsoon months the sea can make boat trips rougher, so the day is best planned around the weather at the pier.
