For a full day, start with the temples of the old city, such as Wat Phra Chetuphon, also known as Wat Pho, and the Grand Palace, then take a taxi to Asiatique - The Riverfront for dinner by the river. The Chatuchak Weekend Market, a large market open at weekends, is a separate trip worth planning for a Saturday.
