Asok is a busy interchange where the BTS and MRT lines meet, which keeps connections straightforward. Siam Paragon, a large shopping centre with an aquarium and cinemas, is 2.8 km away, and Jim Thompson House, a teak museum in the former home of the Thai silk pioneer, is a short trip further on. Chatuchak Weekend Market is one of the largest weekend markets in Asia and is best reached by Skytrain.

A good day could start at Jim Thompson House in the morning, then move on to Siam Paragon for lunch and shopping, and finish with a short ride on the Skytrain back to the apartment. For the old city, The Grand Palace and Wat Arun lie across the river and make a longer half-day outing. Sukhumvit is lively in the evening, so the area is a good place for a stroll after dinner.
