Phuket Town, the island's main town, is also an easy trip by road for shopping and for a look at the old centre.

Chaithararam Temple, known as Wat Chalong, is one of the best-known Buddhist temples on Phuket and is 6.3 km away. Big Buddha Phuket, a large white statue on a hilltop, is 8.1 km away, and Phuket Aquarium is a few kilometres off. Chalong Pier, a ferry point for boat trips to nearby islands, is also close by.

A day could start at Wat Chalong, continue to Big Buddha and end with a swim at Kata Beach, 9.5 km away. Kata Beach, with its cafes and restaurants along the sand, is a popular place to spend a whole afternoon.Phuket International Airport is 33.7 km away, and because the temples and beaches are spread across the island, a car or taxi is the easiest way to reach them.
