The Siam Paragon shopping centre is 2.5 km away, and the Jim Thompson House, the former home of the silk entrepreneur Jim Thompson, is now a museum 3.3 km away. The Grand Palace, the royal complex in the old city, is 7.2 km away, and Wat Arun, the temple on the bank of the Chao Phraya river, is one of the city's best-known landmarks. Khaosan Road in the Banglamphu district, a lively backpacker street, is also worth an evening out.

For a full day out, the Grand Palace and Wat Arun make a rewarding morning, while the Chatuchak Weekend Market, one of Bangkok's biggest markets, is 6.3 km away and is a good choice for a weekend afternoon.
