Bansuan Lanta Maikaew is in the Klong Nin Beach area, and its rooms look out over the mountains rather than the sea. The island combines beaches, a national park and a small old town, all within a reasonable distance of one another.

Khlong Top Noi Beach is 1.9 km away, a small beach that is one of several along this part of the coast. The old town is 4 km away, and the Koh Lanta Community Museum there offers a look at island life and history. Mu Ko Lanta National Park, 9.5 km away, protects much of the island's forest and coastline, and Kantiang Bay is 11.2 km away and is one of the island's better-known bays.

A full day could combine the old town and its community museum with a visit to the national park, and end with a swim at one of the island's beaches. Bike hire is offered at the property, and a tour desk is on site. During the rainy monsoon season, rough seas can disrupt boat trips to and from the island.
