Old Bangkok is a longer trip: the Grand Palace is 6.8 km away, and Wat Arun on the Chao Phraya riverbank is close to it. The royal palace complex and the temple are the best known sights of the old city, and a visit to both fits well into a single day of sightseeing. For the evening, Khaosan Road in Banglamphu is a lively street for an evening walk, with its street food and busy pavements. Chatuchak Weekend Market is a large weekend market, worth visiting on a Saturday or Sunday, and it is a different side of the city from the Sukhumvit area around the hotel.
