The Bangkokian Museum, which covers the architecture and history of old Bangkok, is 850 m away, and the Sri Mahamariamman Temple is close by with its colourful Hindu gateway. The Skytrain stations make the return to the home straightforward.

A day could begin at the Grand Palace, 4.6 km away, and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, then continue to Wat Pho, 4.3 km away, where the reclining Buddha is the main attraction. Wat Arun lies on the other side of the Chao Phraya river, and the Chatuchak Weekend Market is the place for a longer outing; the evening can end with street food back in Silom.
