Location & what to see

The apartments are in Chinatown, Bangkok's old Chinese quarter, on Krung Kasem Road in the Pom Prap area. Yaowarat Road, the district's main street, is lined with shophouses, hanging lanterns and food stalls, and the lanes around it hold markets selling fruit, spices and traditional Chinese herbs. The lanes are busy from morning until late, with traders and shoppers on the pavements, and shops, markets and temples sit close together along the streets.

Wat Mangkon MRT Station is about 400 m away, on the Blue Line, and the Wat Traimit temple, home to a large gold Buddha, is close by. Wat Mangkon Kamalawat, one of the largest Chinese Buddhist temples in the city, is also in the district. The Grand Palace is 2.5 km away, Wat Arun is 2.6 km away on the river, and the Chatuchak Weekend Market, a large weekend market, is 7.5 km away.

A good way to spend an evening is to walk Yaowarat Road, eat at the street stalls and then visit Wat Mangkon Kamalawat. Daytime visits to the Grand Palace and Wat Arun are reached by taxi or private car from the district, and the Chatuchak market makes a full day out on its own.
