Bang Kachao, the green area 750 m away, is a place of orchards and village paths and a favourite for cycling and walking. Ferry piers lie within 350 m, and Pae Jeab Pier and Bang Kachao Pier, both 350 m away, are the closest ferry stops for the crossing. The Khlong Toei MRT station is 2.3 km away on the Blue Line, which links the area with central Bangkok by metro.

A good day starts with a ride through Bang Kachao. In the afternoon, the Grand Palace, home of the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, and Wat Arun, the riverside temple with its tall tiered tower, are about 9 km away, a trip best made by taxi or by ferry from the piers. The Jim Thompson House, a teak house museum devoted to the silk pioneer, makes another visit, and the Chatuchak Weekend Market is a longer journey across town, worth making on a weekend.
