The Grand Palace is 4.4 km away, and the Jim Thompson House, a museum of traditional teak houses, is reachable by taxi.

A good day could start at Wat Phra Chetuphon, known as Wat Pho and home to the reclining Buddha, then cross the river by boat to Wat Arun. In the evening, Asiatique makes a good place to end the day, and Khaosan Road, the busy backpacker street in the old city, is a taxi ride away for a night out.
