A day could start at the elephant sanctuary, continue to Wat Chalong and the Big Buddha, and end on Patong Beach, the island's best-known stretch of sand. Bangla Road, the island's best-known street for nightlife, is also in the area. Most of the places in this part of the island are reached from the hotel by road, so a day trip to each of them is easy to plan, and the sights range from elephants and temples to beaches and a mining museum.
