Arawana Hostel Silom

The rooms at Arawana Hostel Silom are dormitory-style, mostly with bunk beds and shared bathrooms. They offer free Wi-Fi, a hair dryer, towels and a shower, and some rooms have air conditioning and a fan.

Arawana Hostel Silom is on Surawong Road in the Silom district of Bangkok, one of the city's busiest business areas, with office towers and banks lining the main streets. Many of the surrounding buildings are modern towers, with older shophouses on the side streets. In the evening the district fills with people, and the side streets hold street-food stalls and small bars.

The skytrain is the simplest way to get around. Chong Nonsi BTS station is 700 m from the hotel, and Saint Louis BTS station is also close by, both on the Silom Line. Sri Mahamariamman Temple, a Hindu temple, is a short walk away, and the Bangkokian Museum and Silom Square, a market, are also nearby.

For a full day out, the riverside temples are the classic choice. Wat Arun, on the Chao Phraya river, is 4.2 km away, and the Grand Palace is 4.3 km away. The Grand Palace stands in the old royal quarter of Rattanakosin, a district of older temples and palaces, and both sights can be seen in one day of sightseeing. Don Mueang International Airport (DMK), the nearest airport, is 22.4 km away, so the skytrain is the easiest link once you are in the city.
