Longtail boats run from Ao Nang to Railay Beach, a peninsula reached mainly by sea, where limestone cliffs rise above the sand and Phra Nang Cave is one of the sights. The Hong Islands, a group of islands with lagoons, are 39.4 km away, and Tiger Cave Temple (Wat Tham Suea), 14.8 km away, is a hillside temple reached by road, while Railay is reached by boat.

A day could begin with a swim, then a longtail boat to Railay Beach for a walk beneath the cliffs, and the evening can end at the night market back in Ao Nang. Trips to the islands fill most of a day, and the boats set off from the beach at Ao Nang. During the rainy months the sea can be rough, and some boat trips may not run.
