Asiatique The Riverfront, a riverside night market and shopping complex, is 500 m away, with the Asiatique Sky ferris wheel nearby. Wat Arun, the Temple of Dawn on the riverbank, is 4.2 km away, and the Grand Palace, which houses the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, is 4.8 km away. Wat Phra Chetuphon, home to a reclining Buddha, is in the same part of the city as the Grand Palace.

A good plan is to spend the morning at Wat Arun and the Grand Palace, then take a river boat back and browse Asiatique in the evening. The Chaophraya Princess cruise is 400 m away for a sightseeing trip on the river, and the Krung Thon Buri BTS station, 1.4 km away, links you with the Skytrain network. For an evening out, Khaosan Road, the best-known backpacker street in Bangkok, is in the old city.
