Patong is one of Phuket's best-known beach resorts, a busy town on a wide bay with a long sandy beach, a lively evening scene and a mix of hotels, shops and street-food stalls. Amata Patong sits on Rat-U-Thit 200 Pee Road, a few hundred metres from the sand, so the beach and the evening scene are both close at hand.

Bangla Road, the street where Patong's nightlife gathers, runs close by, with bars and night stalls along it. Karon Beach, a neighbouring beach with a long stretch of sand, is 3.6 km away, and the Big Buddha, a large white statue on a hilltop, is 7.2 km away. Phuket International Airport is 24.6 km away. Banzaan Fresh Market, about 500 m from the hotel, is the place for fresh produce and local food.

A day that fits well with Patong takes in the Big Buddha and Chaithararam Temple (Wat Chalong), one of the island's best-known Buddhist temples, before returning to the beach in the evening. Once the sun sets, Bangla Road is a short walk back to the hotel, so an evening out fits easily around the beach. Car hire and a taxi service are offered, and free parking is available on site for guests who drive.
