Alura's rooms include several with air conditioning, a private entrance and a balcony or terrace, and a number of rooms have a king bed. Several rooms measure 35 m², and rooms can also have a TV, blackout curtains, a fan, a coffee and tea maker and a mosquito net.

Some rooms sleep up to four guests and others up to three. One of the rooms has a private bathroom with a shower, a hair dryer and towels, and some rooms also have a sofa bed or a queen bed. The choice of room therefore depends on how many people are travelling and whether a balcony or terrace matters to you.

The hotel has a restaurant, a bar, a coffee shop, room service and a 24-hour front desk, plus a fitness centre and a massage bed. The nightclub and on-site entertainment are also on the premises.

For getting around, there is an airport transfer, a shuttle service and a taxi service. Free parking is available on site, with valet parking and bicycle parking. The hotel also has a concierge and daily housekeeping.

For the sea, there are snorkelling, diving, surfing lessons and boating, and there is also a golf course on site. Kata is a beach area on Phuket, and Alura is in the Kata neighbourhood, 700 m from Kata Beach. Kata Beach is a sandy bay where many visitors go for swimming and sunbathing, and the neighbouring Kata Noi Beach is another stretch of sand close by. The area is a beach holiday base, with restaurants and shops in the neighbourhood around the beach road.

Big Buddha, a large white statue on a hill, is 1.5 km from the hotel, and Wat Chalong, one of Phuket's most important temples, is 4.8 km away. Patong Beach, with the nightlife of Bangla Road, is 8 km away. Phuket has no metro, so a taxi or car is the usual way to reach these sights. A minibus station is close to the hotel, for shorter trips along the coast, and the airport transfer covers arrivals.

A good day here starts with a swim at Kata Beach, then a visit to Big Buddha or Wat Chalong in the afternoon. Kata Noi Beach, a neighbouring stretch of sand, is a good alternative for a second swim. The Kata Open Market, 1.2 km from the hotel, is a local market for everyday shopping, and it is a short trip from the beach.
