Shopping at Siam Paragon is 5.3 km away, and the Chatuchak Weekend Market is 6.6 km away, a large weekend market with thousands of stalls. The Grand Palace and Wat Arun are farther away, on the river, so a taxi or a longer trip across town is needed.

A good day could start with a walk in Phanphirom Park, followed by a visit to the Jim Thompson House, a museum of traditional Thai houses and silk. In the afternoon, the Grand Palace and Wat Arun are the sights to see along the river, and the Chatuchak market is open on weekends, so it fits a weekend visit.
