12 The Residence Hotel

The rooms at 12 The Residence Hotel come in twin, king and suite layouts for two or three guests. Most have a city view, and bathrooms come with a shower, toiletries, towels and a hair dryer. Several rooms also have air conditioning, an electric kettle and satellite or cable channels, and the Junior Suite with Balcony has a balcony.

At 58 m², the 1-Bedroom Royal Suite has a king bed and a city view, with a private bathroom and a streaming service such as Netflix. Families can also book the 58 m² Family Triple Room for 3 People, which sleeps up to three guests with a single bed and a king bed.

Guests can use a 24-hour front desk, an airport transfer, a shuttle service and luggage storage, and the hotel has an elevator and daily housekeeping. Free Wi-Fi is available in all rooms, and wired internet and Wi-Fi in public areas are also offered.

The surroundings are a local neighbourhood rather than a central tourist quarter, with markets, street food stalls and temples close by. Visitors who want the main Bangkok sights will need to travel further into the city, but the hotel's airport transfer and the rail link help with getting around the area.

Don Muang Railway Station is 800 m from the hotel and has trains heading into central Bangkok. Wat Don Muang, a pagoda in the neighbourhood, is 500 m away. The Chatuchak Weekend Market, 15.2 km away, is one of Bangkok's best-known markets, open at weekends with stalls for clothing, crafts and food.

A full day could start at Chatuchak in the morning, then head into the old city for The Grand Palace, 22.9 km from the hotel, where the Temple of the Emerald Buddha sits in the palace compound. Wat Arun is across the Chao Phraya from the palace area, and Khaosan Road has bars, restaurants and street food for the evening, after a day of sightseeing.
