The caves and countryside are the draw here rather than a busy town, and the resort makes a quiet base for exploring them.

Within a few kilometres, Ban Pha Lao village lies 2.8 km away and the prehistoric colour drawings at Khao Pla Ra are 3.2 km off. The Lom Rattanakhuha Cave is 3.3 km away and the Hup Pa Tat Cave 3.6 km, while the peak of Khao Bang Kraek is 4.4 km from the resort.

A good day could start with the caves and end with the drawings at Khao Pla Ra, leaving time for the hills around Khao Bang Kraek. Since the sights are spread across several villages, a car or scooter is the easiest way to see them. A campsite, Cabin Rim Pha, is also in the area.
